Gah, I am so damn tired! My uni timetable is messing up my whole system, what with all my night classes where I'm not getting home until at least 10:30pm.

Plus on top of all that, I'm working 5 days this week, which doesn't really sound like a lot, but when I work then have to go straight to class day after day, I feel like I'm going to collapse =( Unless we hire someone else at work, I'm going to have to say I'm unavailable a few more days, becauseI won't be able to keep up the workload. Bahh...

Uni is going pretty well at the moment, my classes have gotten a bit more interesting now. My Greek Lit teacher is such a fanboy! ^_^ He's awesome.
This really hot guy is in 3 of my classes and when he announced that he was from Finland I think I had a heart attack ^^ He's awesome though, really nice.

Ok, enough for now, I'm going to bed before my head reaches the keyboard. Goodnight all!

So I didn't quite die, I just didn't have the time to do a proper update, then when I did, I couldn't quite be bothered...There's the Kate we all know!

That and I was trying to avoid Breaking Dawn spoilers. So I suppose a very quick run-down of the past few months is in order...

I managed to trudge my way through all the asessments I had last semester and actually did quite well; a Credit for Feminism and Film Theory, another Credit for Film Theory and a Distinction for European Cinema. ^_^ I managed to pull a distinction for my 6000 word essay which I was very pleased about =D

Then I had about 2 months semester break where I did absolutly nothing productive. Well, I did work more but sadly I didn't write much more of all the fics I have waiting to be updated. Yeah, I hated me too =( Though I did catch up on heaps more movies, mostly Alfred Hitchcock ones.

Then spent a few days with my family in the country visiting my grandmother which was....trying but hey, I saw camels! And drove some more. We came back and I began the oh so grueling task of cleaning out my wardrobe which is now suprisingly still clean. It also turned out to be quite fruitful, I found clothes I've never warn and shoes I haven't seen in at least a year or so ^_^

And to end the holidays, some old high school friends and I met up for dinner which was great fun, just catching up and all =D

I started uni again on the 28th July. I'm doing 5 subjects this semester, which I'm fairly worried about in terms of work load and asessments, plus work and everything =/ But I'll find a way to cope...
Though I thought this semester was going to be great and it is not meeting many of my expectations, especially Novel into Film. So many English majors, which is not in itself a major problem, all of them just think they are God's gift to the world and are book snobs. Suck it up, there is more to novels than just Hemingway and all. Oh wells, 11 weeks left...Not a good sign that I'm already counting down...

And Breaking Dawn! NO SPOILERS, I promise. I've heard people say they didn't like it? Why? I enjoyed it! Maybe because I didn't have any expectations for it...but it wasn't as bad as some people make out. Great one liners as usual =D

Annnd I think that is all for nows, hope you're all well, and I apologise for not commenting on anyones posts =)

Verdict - I'm most like Belle. =D Awesome, Beauty and the Beast is one of my fave Disney movies ^_^ I feel like watching it now...

Speaking of Disney movies and princesses, I've been doing some research for my Feminism essay in which I am going to be discussing Disney movies and female protagonists and how stereotypes change, etc, and my God, there are so many people, mainly mothers, out there who refuse to let their daughter's watch most of the Disney movies! They say that they are not an accurate representation of women today, showing them in the home, having the Prince save them, etc.

Ok, sure, things are not really like that now, but honestly. I grew up with all the Disney movies, and I mean all, and I didn't start thinking that women belong in the home! They're just movies, for fun, there's no need to make everything so damn political.

PS Disney Nazi mothers - I also had a million Barbies and dolls, and I don't have any body issues, or start thinking that Barbie was how women are expected to look. I mean, have you see Barbie, no-one looks like that. She just had awesome clothes, shoes and horses. That is all.

Gah! You know your week is going to suck when:

Some guy goes into the back room at your work, and steals your wallet and iPod. Oh, yes. Jackass. I was at work on Monday and Jen and I saw a shifty guy walk in. Next thing we know, Jen goes to go on her lunch break only to find her wallet missing and she tells me to check my bag and mines gone as well, plus my iPod.

Long story short, my wallet and, student ID's and my licence were found in an alleyway about 10 minutes later thanks to some wonderful, wonderful person, but of course, some cash I had and my keycard were missing. But he also took my old movie ticket stubs, a gift card I had, my uni Acess card (lol, loser, how are you going to use that) and a photo I had of Farrha, Kate and I on my 20th.

But my iPod =(!! It was less than 4 months old and I had just put like...200 more songs on it last week. But I'm seriously praying that the store's insurance will cover it. *crosses fingers* So if anyone sees me humming randomly to myself on the train or anything...at least you know why ^_^

I'm getting some more shifts at work becuase one of the owners decided to also do some work at his old job, a chemical engineer. All enquiries stopped at the word 'chemical'. So yes, more money which is good, especially in my poor state.

Though I don't know how badly I wants more shifts when you get customers like the one that came in today:

"I'm looking for something for a 3 year old, a little girl, but nothing too expensive."
"Alright then, well this table would probably be your best bet, everything is up to 50% off."
"Hmm... I don't really want to get her a book..."

So...you came into a bookstore why?

Honestly, some people really need to...not have children! Then she went on to argue with me over the pricing for a book. I'm not changing the price; it's already been discounted. You don't want it, there's the door.

God help us all. Annnd end rant!post.

Honestly, this is one of those weeks where you wonder what of Earth you've done to make God hate you so much, and that you just want to be over.

Starting last Friday and still going, I feel as though I should have stayed in bed for the week, just reading and listening to music. The week included events such as my shoes literally cutting into the back of me heel (it looked like I had got a razor blade and run it across my foot. So gross, so sore), getting sick just as the weekend started, having an assessment to do regardless, go all the way into uni just to hand in said assessment, then back to work for the day, stupid customers at work and more which I cannot quite frankly be bothered going into.

Nyeh. I hate feeling so emo.

Nightwish's Master Passion Greed and Romanticide = very good songs for when you're angry.

But my dad, knowing how crap my week has been and how bad I've been feeling gave me the 2008 version of Nightwish's Oceanborn. I love you, daddy =D

And an eternal thank you to [info]shantiland  [info]toujours_pur_bl for everything you've done to cheer me on and cheer me up. I feel much better *hugs*

Seven songs:

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring autumn. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.

In no particular order:

1. Beauty of the Beast - Nightwish
2. Running Just To Catch Myself - Mark Schultz
3. Love You Much Better - The Hush Sound
4. Safeguard to Paradise - Epica
5. Dark Chest Of Wonders - Nightwish
6. Ghost Love Score - Nightwish
7. Sunchyme  - Dario G

A proper post will follow in a few days. Hope you're all well!

So I officially graduated last night! I now have a peice of paper saying I have in fact done my Bachelor of Arts.

Annnd that was pretty much it for the ceremony. I shall post the photos and everything once I've taken them off my camera and organised them all. Afterwards my family took me out to dinner at a chinese resturant in the city. I sucessfuly used chopsticks for the entire meal, which by the way, was delicious. My brother got the oddest fortune in his cookie though:

"Promises are like babies.
Easy to make; hard to deliver."

...Well, gee. Alright.^^

And I think I'm more or less finished this film review. But 500 words is so very, very little space to write in. I'm already at 600 and I still have to conclude it all. It's awkward making a proper argument with examples in such a limited word frame. Eh.

Even though I had already bought a dress for graduation about a week or so ago, I wasn't too sure that is the one I really wanted to wear. So I found another one which is absolutley beautiful! I'm in love with it! And a bonus is I can wear it to the Michael Buble concert in June. With my fedora hat, I will look just jazzy enough. Oooh and maybe stockings to go with it =D

It has a pink silky layer, then a soft, black meshy type of material over the top, and a pink sash around the waist which ties in a bow. I can't wait to wear it this Wednesday! With my silver heels, the grad cap and gown, it's going to look amazing. I am so modest ^^ Pics will most likley follow at some point.

And I have to do a movie review for Film Theory due this coming Friday. 500 words, we pick any moviewe want, so I picked Psycho, Hitchcock's version. Pure brilliance! I haven't watched it in ages, amazing use of lighting, dialogue is genius. So it's been hard to watch this movie and remember to look at the cinematography and not get a bowl of popcorn out ^^

And man, winter-ish weather came on quickly! A few weeks ago we were still having hot, summer weather. And now I'm wearing scarves, boots, and sweaters. Ah well. I need more winter hats...

Good evening all,

Well, yesterday Farrha and I made our way into Sydney Uni for O-Week which was quite exciting. We sussed the place out a bit and joined a few clubs, including the Writer's Society, the Film Society, the Chocolate society (<3) and of course, because they had a cool t-shirt and badge, the Captain Planet Appreciation Society ^^ Then we sat around eating Skittles...because that is what we do.

Then we came back to my house, and watched some movies and a couple episodes of Supernatural. We watched this Indian movie called Om Shanti Om. I loved it! It was incredible. Although I didn't understand all the Indian film/actor references, it was an amazing concept with an awesome soundtrack. And today we had a vampire movie day. This included a cheesy vampire flick called 'Vampires: The Turning', Blade and Queen of the Damed, popcorn and numerous Oreos. Good day =D

Oh! And I still didn't know the time of my French Cinema subject so I went online to check to see if it was there one more time, only to have an email that read:

"All students enrolled in the Minorities in French Cinema unit, please be advised that this subject will be taught in French."

....

O_o!! Uh, ok. Thank you. Only one problem, I don't speak any French! Other than hello and goodbye, I know nothing!

So, I called up the Arts co-ordinator guy and told him the problem. He, of course, as any normal person would, cracked up laughing at the predicament. But apparently, the uni assumed this subject would be taught in English (the logical thing to do, really) but alas! So basically I had to withdraw from that subject and enrol in another; Film Theory: Art, History and Culture.
Why I oughta! I was really looking forward to that subject =(

Psh, oh wells, not much I can do. And it all worked out, I suppose. And it is kind of funny (in a black comedy way) when you think about it. ^_^ I'm so looking forward to next week!

I'm scared for our civilisation, I really am.

I was at work today, and we are just out the front of the information desk, where you get information (no way!) and rent prams, etc. Anyway, they also rent out those car things for elderly people. You know the ones, right? (I've always wanted to joyride in one of those ^^)

Anyway, moving on. This one guy goes up at some point and sits on one, and honestly spends 5 mins trying to start it, only to exclaim,

"Oh! It needs a key!"

Well nah. Ya think?

5 minutes, honestly. I felt like going out there and slapping him myself. His family had enough sense to walk off without him.

The uni timetables went up the other day. In Semester 1, I'm doing 3 subjects and so far, I have Feminism and Film Theory at 9 Tuesday mornings, and then European Cinema at 6pm, in between which I have a freaking 5 hour break! What am I going to do for 5 hours! Admitidly I do have people I can catch up with, my cousin and high school friends, but 5 hours!

And they still haven't posted the times for Minorities in French Cinema much to my annoyance. I mean, classes start next week, and I need to let work know when I can and can't work. Grr.

It's also O-Week starting Wednesday. Farrha and I are going so that should be interesting. I just have to try not to go and look at any pretty buildings again. Last time we did that, we got lost. For 2 hours. In the heat. ^^ Fun times, though.

Recently, more ideas have been coming to me for a book I'm working on, which is good. It's all slowly starting to come together in more depth so =D

Oh! And I finally finished reading Dracula. Good book but what is with the ending? After all that, it turned out to be so easy. But oh wells. Now I'm reading this book of short stories/novellas called 'The Plague of the Living Dead.'

Does anyone know when Season 7 Gilmore Girls comes out, because I've been re-watching each season and am now really dying to know how it all ends! Please, anyone?

Oh oh! And I got my hair cut =D and soon, very soon, I'm am going to dye the tips purple ^^ I can't wait, I really hope it turns out well.

Annnd I think that is all for now. I'm going to try and write something now. Farewell all! <3

Wow okay, I've really been neglecting LJ latley. This is only my second post this year..oops.

What have I been up to, though? Not much in the major scheme of things. I've been quite bored actually =/

1. I went to see Jumper last Thursday. It was pretty good, though I wished it delved more into the science of their jumping and explained things a little more. But Hayden was hot,so I won't complain too much. And Jaime Bell <3

2. I spent a few days at Farrha's, just having a couple of movie days. We watched..5 movies on Thursday, and 3 and a half on Fridays before we had to leave to see Jodhaa Akbar. My eyes felt like they were going to fall out. But fun nonetheless.

3. The Nightwish concert a couple of weeks ago was amazing! We looked awesome and it was just...ah beyond what I was expecting! They didn't play all the songs I was hoping the would, but Tuomas taking off his shirt and watching the others run around the stage made up for that.

4. An ex has come back into my life...which is...interesting, considering he has a girlfriend. So, yes, watch out for that =S

5. I start uni in a couple of weeks, thank god! I need something to keep me occupied. And the subjects seem so interesting =D But I want to update 'The Art of Tonks' before I go back, something which is proving very difficult to get down and do at the moment.

6. Oh! I also finally found a temporary hair dye that won't stain my hair if I wash it out with a special type of shampoo! Finally, I've been looking for 3 months, only to be told 'you'd be better with the clip ons...' I think I will start with purple, some of the tips of my hair =D

Annnd I think that is all for now. Hope you're all well! =)

I got into Sydney Uni! I received my official letter from them on Monday saying that I have a place there! I am all set to do my Masters in Film Studies! Man, I am so excited; there's amazing subjects and everything! :D I'm more or less poitive that most of the classes will be at night but hey, I'll deal. Even if I will be catching a train from Redfern...

I also started working on the idea I had for a novel, planning and such which is going alright, if I do say.

I think I'll be going to see Sweeny Todd next Friday with Farrha. That I can't wait for! Johnny Depp singing and well, just him in general. I want the soundtrack.
And I sill have to see I AmLegend. So again, with Farrha who has already seen it but who I coerced to go with me again coz I had no-one to go with ^_^

And the Nightwish concert in 2 weeks! I still need to buy clothes for that, but I do not count that as a chore or anything. Even if I have been shopping quite a bit latley, buying clothes and books and whatnot.

And I'm up to Season 5 Gilmore Girls ^_^ I love that show, so much. So I'm going to go watch some more now, farewell!

1. I've received all my marks for my BA. Mostly credits Oh yeah! :D

2. Gabriel is such a crap movie! It gives Australian cinema a bad name. Great concept but very poorly executed. Bad acting, bad FX, nice soundtrack though. But apparently it's part of a triolgy. I sincerly hope they are kidding.

3. Farrha and I went shopping today. :D So much fun. We went to Max Brenner's for breakfast and had coffee and a chcocolate waffle. So good! Then shopping! I got new white tights, a white and black dress/top, a white, pink and black top, a  plain white and black t-shirt and, thanks to Farrha, a black tee with "Bad Alice" on it. Yes, indulging my Twilight obsession ^_^ And has anyone tried the Bubblegum Fanta slushie? It's good!

4. Moonlight so far...well, after one episode, is very interesting! His lips! But looks to be very intriging!

5. Robert Pattinson as Edward? Fuck off. He's hot, yes. But he's not Edward. What were they thinking? They had better not stuff up Carlisle, Esme, Alice...or any of the other Cullen's casting. Or I shall cry.

Ok, not cry, but be severly dissapointed :(

6. I officially have Michael Buble and Nightwish tix! :D Bring. Them. On.

This presentation has got to be the worst assessment I have ever had to do. Researching digital pay TV and tak about the political, legal, economic and cultural ramifications of this technology.

Yes, I'm confused as well.

I have to speak for 15mins on this. I think I'd rather shoot myself in the foot. And I quite like my feet.

I just want this week to be over. I've done more work than I thought possible today. I finished an essay, did a posting and am now attempting to work on this presentation I have due on Friday.

My head feels like it's going to explode from over thinking and making things up and linking ideas and quotes together. *collapses*

But ah well. This time in 2 days, I'll be assessment and institution free! :D I cannot wait.

Saturday I'm getting my hair cut and plan to spend my time watching Season 1 of Gilmore Girls. And eating popcorn.

Note to self: Remember to buy Michael Buble tix on Monday so I do not miss out. We're going to have a huge group of us all going! :D And Nightwish. And organise Billy Elliot.

Edit: It's also a month until my birthday! One more month of being a teenager. Wow, and I havn't even been that reckless. What was I thinking! :P
